Sarah O'Donovan

MBACP Counselling & Psychotherapy
Hello and welcome, my name is Sarah.   I offer short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy in North London and online.

I offer trauma-informed therapy that supports you to feel safe, seen, and connected - both to yourself and to your life.  Rooted in Psychosynthesis, my approach holds space not only for your wounding, but also for your potential - the-parts of you that might be waiting to emerge as healing unfolds.

How I work

I’m a Psychosynthesis-trained, trauma-informed therapist with a background in the creative arts. My work begins with helping people find a sense of ground in the present moment. From this steadiness we can begin to explore what’s ready to be seen — the feelings, patterns, and parts of self that may have been hidden or overwhelmed.

One of the most important healing components is 'trust'.  I don’t see people as broken, but as whole beings carrying experiences that need care and integration.  My working style works to build that trust with my clients.   My role isn’t to fix you, but to support you in becoming more present, curious, and connected to yourself.

We move at a pace your body and mind can manage, helping you stay anchored in the here and now while gently exploring the more difficult parts of your story.  I will support you in meeting yourself with compassion and curiosity.

I understand how complex identity can feel — the tension between who we are, who we’ve been, and who we’re becoming. Belonging and becoming are interconnected and so as well building that trust my work often draws on parts-based awareness: recognising and giving voice to the many inner aspects that make up our experience.

Reach out I’ll be in touch to arrange your first session.

Our first session is a chemistry session. A gentle introduction. If it feels right for you and I believe I can help you we can move forward together.

We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, and I may ask a few questions about your background.

There’s no pressure to share everything—we go at your pace.

I usually work weekly, offering a consistent space to explore whatever’s coming up for you. Some people come for short-term support,  others stay for long term support to explore deeper patterns and parts of themselves.
